 VDR ROUND 3 "best yet"

November 3 2003 Ward Creek

We didn't think it was possible, but MONTY PRICE pulls of yet another masterpiece of track design and layout. Coupled with almost perfect soil conditions, this event proved very memorable. The morning started off almost bitter cold, and it looked like a light turnout, but as the day progressed, quite the opposite was true, as a large contingent of riders showed up and racing was fast and furious, with good air apparent on all the jumps MONTY provided. In short,  the track was fast, long and had good airtime. An estimated 250 riders showed up.

The transition of the VDR program to Blake and Karin Landon is proving to be a smooth one, with Monty and Ann still involved but in a lesser degree.

The day was not with out tragedy however, as Moe Loehman had a nasty endo on the back stretch and got a checkup ride to the hospital.

However, the days worst event has to be the loss of  ERIC SULLIVAN of the SULLIVAN RACING FAMILY's wife to a tragic auto accident. We are very sad to say the call came into Eric at the track, and the news spread like wildfire throughout the facility, leaving everyone in shock and disbelief. So what had turned out to be a perfect day, was marred by this news. Those in the know, and that have met the Sullivans know that this closely knit clan of racers at woodland often show up with 6-10 members of there family, and often field at least 5 or more racers. This family has taken home there weight in trophys, and so there loss is shared by us all. We offer our collective condolences to the Sullivans, and as of writing this, we are truly at a loss for words in our sorrow.......

(the following is a note from the Sullivan family)...............The Sullivan family wants you to know how very deeply we appreciate the thoughts and prayers from all of you.  It really touched our hearts to know how much you all care.   Erik wanted you to know that his wife was also the sister of Larry and Dave Roberts, who also race at Woodland and in the Ahrma events.
When Erik came home from his first race he couldn't stop talking about what a nice, helpful, caring group of people he found.  It was at that time that he and his wife couldn't wait to get the rest of his family involved.
In closing, we again thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness.  She will be missed.

Bill,
Wanted to thank you & all your guys for posting such great pics @ your site after each race!  VDR wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't for your site & Seige's.
On a more serious note, though, is there any way we can send a card to Eric Sullivan?  Does anyone have an address on him...??  Appreciate if we could get our condolences to him...
Bill told me the news as we were driving out of the park.  I was dumdfounded & very saddened.  Mo called Bill and is fine.  Already released, has a terrific headache!  Who was the fella who helped Mo out until the ambulances arrived?  Mo wants to know so he can get in touch with him to thank him & also to thank everyone that helped him get his stuff home.

Sincerely,

           Rita Schram - VRM Racing

Hi Rita..

Yes, we are saddened by the news and in shock as well.

Jeff Pugh was the guy who helped out MO until the ambulance came, or should I say one of many people actually. That MO is a good guy, hope he comes back. Glad he had good gear on.
That jump he crashed on was the weirdest jump out there. It looked harmless, but shot you way up into the air, and had a weird landing. I actually walked over to it, and could not figure it out. Take care Rita, and hope to see you DEC13th...........!
