ROUND 7 Was a good event. The weather people called for rain, but it turned out to be overcast, and nary a raindrop was reported. I watched the weather report all week, and it constantly fluctuated, so I don’t think that even they knew what was going on.
When all else fails, give your buddy a call that lives near there, and ask him what’s its going to be like. Then, you can decide what to do. Or you can ignore the weather report, and just go racing, as I do. If you are always waiting for perfect weather, then you are not going to be racing much, I can tell you that!
Ok, Round 7 had some schedule and scoring snafu's, but unless your racing for points, its not much to worry about. Blake and Karin will get things sorted out soon. Be patient, they work hard for little compensation! It is a big job to pull off a race, and if anything, a good old "pat on the back" is worth a lot, as you know. Remember that, if you decide to complain, take it a step further and offer a solution to the problem. Often times, it entails direct involvement, and as I watch the people who set up the track, work hard to pound stakes all day long, one comes up with a newfound respect for the workers. Their hard work = fun for us racers.
I have to say that I had alot of fun on Saturday. I just love giving the Mangy Mutts a hard time! (it's ok if it's from the GOOOB!) Mad Dog Mike Caruso has pulled together a very cohesive team, they are very spirited and unique individuals! I'm sure now, they are going to hunt me down, so the lesson to be learned here is to stay humble, and shut up. As Mario Andretti once said quote: "when you think that you are the fastest racer out there, someone comes along and blows your doors off" I think I have learned that " To feed kibble, one must learn to eat it too"
Ok, I have a new camera now. It's way to complicated for me, and I'm having a hard time. The good news is that the pictures will be better in all ways. Sometimes people say, "when will my picture be in the site?" Well, I race a lot, and if you race in the same classes I do, the chances are good one of our Mangy photographers will get a picture of you. I do try to showcase new racers, and it's good to welcome them and make them feel comfortable. I just love the people at Woodland and VDR, because I feel I belong to something important. We play hard, because after all, we are not playing "Ping Pong" (Jeff Smith quote) and so it brings out a heightened sense of competition. If you haven’t tried it, you should....Its part of what life is all about!
