The Year was 2003. Vintage Dirt Racers were starting into a new year and all was looking good. The Vintage scene was really starting to get going and with growing pains happening all over, it was good to just have a place to bring your bikes and friends and family and chew up some terrain.
With AHRMA and all the efforts they put forth for growth, along with the VDR winter series it was indeed racing year around. We then saw the emergence of Hammer and Tongs Summer Series, It was indeed the place to be for Vintage Racing. Hammer and Tongs allowed for Long travel Evolution class bikes racing the same day and track as Vintage classes, and also provided for Childrens racing, which allowed the whole family to participate. This website is dedicated to those early years, and provides an archival history of these races, and modern races as well. As I was not into the Vintage scene, I can relive the moments through the Past photo albums here and on Siege's VDR and Hammer & Tongs web site...(VDR NW)
With membership on the rise nationally in AHRMA, the Pacific Northwest was indeed growing in leaps and bounds. Seeing a need and want for more choices in Vintage Racing, the efforts of Bill Grubin and the first Gas-It-N-Go racers along with Siege and the likes of Dirk Williams laying down the ground work for what we have here today, is indeed greatly appreciated, and a feat not yet duplicated any where else to my knowledge. The Great Northwest is indeed the Mecca for Vintage Racing that only the future will see where it goes from here. Please enjoy the History of VDR and the Northwest through the photo albums we have ........
